The Guests Are Coming!
5 chic (and easy) ways to create a space they’ll never want to leave.
Whether you are hosting some old friends for Thanksgiving Day or extended family is descending in December, you’ll want to spruce up the spare room for your favorite guests.
We’re sharing our quick and easy guide to making a guest room feel cozy, comfortable and a little luxurious.
Elevate the Essentials…
Take a cue from the amazing hotel stays you’ve had and go a little above and beyond to create a memorable space.
• A throw or extra blanket on the bed
• Sturdy hangers in the closet
• Luggage rack in the corner
• Water carafe on the nightstand
• Tray or dish for jewelry and watches
• Clock/radio and/or iPod charging dock
• A good reading light bedside
• Fresh flowers and scented candle
Think of the Little Things...
Leave a basket full of items guests might need like an extra toothbrush and toothpaste, mints and gum, and travel bottles of shampoos and lotions you’ve brought home from hotels. It’s also really nice to include a guidebook about your town, or some recommendations for sightseeing.
Make Them Feel At Home…
Every visitor needs to know the house secrets, so why not put the wifi passcode in a pretty frame on the dresser. Also, instructions for making coffee in the morning can’t hurt. Finally, the alarm code and a set of keys let your guests know that they’re free to come and go as they please.
Don’t Forget the Bath…
Be sure to give your guest bath a once over as well. Put a stack of fresh towels beside the tub and a few plush, terrycloth robes on the door is nice touch too. Extra points for a scented candle or bath salts and a small vase of flowers on the sink.
Steal Some Five-Star Suite Style...
With just a little pillow primping, an everyday bed can become a field of dreams. Follow our cheat sheet on setting up a beautiful bed. Whether you try one of two ideas or recreate the whole look, they’ll appreciate the thought and remember it when you come to visit them.
